Security guard tries to remove wart from finger with a shotgun – Local stories – Yorkshire Post

Who needs Compound W when you have a Shotgun? Sean Murphy, 38, lost most of his middle finger after using a stolen Beretta shotgun to remove a wart. Murphy found the shotgun at a nuresery, where he worked as a security guard.

“I didn’t expect to lose my finger as well when I shot it but the gun recoiled and that was it. The wart was gone and so was most of my finger. There was nothing left, so no chance to re-attach it.”

Police Shooting Video Saved by Hidden Memory Card in Witness’ Mouth – Gizmodo

After realizing that Benoit recorded the shooting, officers chased him back to his car and surrounded his vehicle with guns drawn. This type of abuse is sickening and can’t be allowed. What gives those ‘officers’ the right to hold two citizens (who have done NOTHING wrong) at gunpoint?

After a horrific shootout on the streets of Miami, Narces Benoit and his girlfriend witnessed the finale: police firing a barrage of rounds into a man’s car. Narces recorded it. The police smashed his phone. But first? Hidden SD card.

Sebastien Buemi accidentally hits crazy fan with F1 car in Japan – Jalopnik

Formula One race car + idiot who though he could jump it = bad for the idiot. It’s kinda hard to feel bad for him.

Formula One driver Sebastien Buemi was in Japan at a Red Bull F1 Exhibition when a fan attempted to jump over his moving race car with predictably disastrous results. Luckily for both parties involved, the young racing driver was traveling less than 20 MPH when the unidentified man decided to jump.

Computer errors allow violent prisoners to be released

leave a comment »

These prisoners were placed on “non-revocable parole”, which means they DO NOT have to report to parole officers. The only way they can be sent back to prison is to be convicted of another crime.

Maybe there should have been some sort of fail-safe for software that controls such important decisions? Like maybe a human being involved?

LA Times:

Computer errors prompted California prison officials to mistakenly release an estimated 450 inmates with “a high risk for violence” as unsupervised parolees in a program meant to ease overcrowding, according to the states inspector general.

Doctors: all your review are belong to us

leave a comment »

I don’t understand why they would even want to censor their patients. Unless of course they are bad doctors. I don’t think I would ever go to a doctor that would want me to sign something like this.

From arstechnica.com:

When I walked into the offices of Dr. Ken Cirka, I was looking for cleaner teeth, not material for an Ars Technica story. I needed a new dentist, and Yelp says Dr. Cirka is one of the best in the Philadelphia area. The receptionist handed me a clipboard with forms to fill out. After the usual patient information form, there was a “mutual privacy agreement” that asked me to transfer ownership of any public commentary I might write in the future to Dr. Cirka. Surprised and a little outraged by this, I got into a lengthy discussion with Dr. Cirka’s office manager that ended in me refusing to sign and her showing me the door….

RTO Assholes Aarons Spies on Customers

leave a comment »

Arstechnica reports that rent-to-own company Aarons is using software on computers it rents out to spy on it’s customers. They are using key loggers (which would give them access to usernames and passwords, as well as credit card and other account numbers), and actually turning on webcams to capture pictures and video. WTF?

Built-in webcams are becoming more and more common in computers these days, and in turn, they are becoming more and more of a liability. A Wyoming couple is now accusing national rent-to-own chain Aaron’s Inc. of spying on them at home using their rented computer’s webcam without their knowledge. Aaron’s also allegedly used a keylogger and took regular screenshots of the couple’s activities on the machine, leading the couple to file a class-action lawsuit in the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
